The Weill Medical College of Cornell University's Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology received a four-year grant in 2001 from the
Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to improve geriatrics education to medical students,
residents, and practicing physicians. Recognizing, understanding, and responding to the many mental health and psychosocial problems older
adults confront is a pivotal part of the provision of quality geriatrics health care.
This geriatrics psychosocial Web site has been designed by an interdisciplinary team of professionals--physicians, nurses, social workers and a geropsychiatrist, as well as public health administrators, sociologists, and a gerontological environmental design specialist. We offer innovative yet sensible practice tools, information, and resources to make geriatrics mental health and psychosocial assessments and interventions easier and more effective for all health care and social service practitioners.
